The application, available now from the Apple iTunes app store, allows skiers and snowboarders to check the latest reports from over 250 ski resorts worldwide. Included in the snow reports are the latest weather conditions, temperature, snow depths both on and off piste, quality of the runs, number of ski lifts open and, where available, the latest web cam shot from that resort. 

One of the attractions to the Ski Club and Land Rover was that, like other mobile apps delivered by Sotic, the content and the layout of the app are updatable ‘on the fly’ - meaning key content can be changed without the need to wait for lengthy approvals from Apple. This functionality is managed though extensions that Sotic has built for the OpenText RedDot content management system. This approach allows Ski Club and Land Rover to tailor their message depending on the time of year.

Widely regarded as one of the most comprehensive and accurate sources of information on snow reports from around the world, Ski Club of Great Britain has built a live database of information is now available to all iPhone users free of charge. Whether you’re on piste or on the bus you can see how many lifts are open in Val d’Isere or how deep the snow is in Whistler.

In addition to the snow report information, iPhone owners can add resorts to a favourites list meaning it’s easier than ever to find the information they want. Also included is the latest news feed from Ski Club of Great Britain as well as a page dedicated to Land Rover allowing them to capture valuable data from visitors.
